New Prototype Clinic – King of Prussia

The client, NovaCare Rehabilitation, embarked on an exciting journey of testing a prototype clinic design. We implemented this model in three locations within higher-end markets across the United States: the Chicago-DePaul area, Columbus, Ohio, and King of Prussia, PA.

The Pennsylvania clinic sits in the King of Prussia Town Center, an upscale experiential retail center featuring luxury shopping and five-star dining. In the company of such brands as Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse, Nordstrom, Williams Sonoma, and others, NovaCare wanted to roll out a new finish that matched its neighbors’ service and visual expectations.

Although RVA did not design the new prototype finishes, our team was provided with four new themes: Journey, Calm, Balanced, and Energetic.

These themes give patients a memorable experience and a space to heal and connect. The new look and design seriously affected the space’s construction, from thicker walls required to support an advanced water station to the overhead baffles and wallcoverings fitting the contemporary theme.

The Challenge

The client aimed to implement this prototype, so RVA’s team, which is responsible for both project management and architectural work, needed to identify any potential issues that could arise. This project exceeded the parameters of a new location, so partners were required to understand the levels of detail needed.

The Result

The RVA team coordinated all parties, including the designer of the new themes, the construction company, the engineer, the NovaCare team, and others, to ensure the project ran on time and within budget—the new space needed to showcase the prototype look to the community.
