RVA’s Mia Butler Honored by Select Medical

At RVA Architecture, we know that our success depends on our people. They bring their skill, dedication, and heart to every project. Recently, that commitment was recognized when one of our project managers, Mia Butler, received an award of excellence from our client, Select Medical.

“The Select Medical Way” is an award built on the company’s core values. It emphasizes the delivery of both an exceptional patient experience and an exceptional employee experience. For Mia, it is proof that her hard work and dedication have a tangible impact. This impact is not just on projects, but on the people who work side by side with her.

The award praised Mia for her timeliness, organization, and ability to manage every detail of the renovation of a NovaCare Physical Therapy clinic in Lansing, Michigan. From identifying potential contractors to coordinating the on-site construction, Mia led the project with precision and professionalism. She worked closely with the landlord, RVA’s architects, and the Select Medical team to ensure that tenant improvement allowances (TIA) were correctly applied in the form of construction costs or a rent offset. The picture shows the inside of a physical therapy clinic

A Journey Built on Helping Others

Mia’s recognition is the latest milestone in a career defined by service and adaptability. Before entering the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, Mia spent ten years in education, teaching at the Vanguard School and supporting students with diverse and special needs. Her passion for helping others led her into the staffing industry. Her role included connecting caring professionals (therapists, special educators, and social service specialists) with the people who needed them most.

When an opportunity opened in the AEC world, Mia embraced it as a new challenge. She joined RECON as East Coast Project Administrator, supporting a company with a track record of over 6,000 environmental remediation and geotechnical projects. RECON’s scale and complexity sharpened Mia’s organizational skills and gave her a new perspective on the built environment.

Leading at RVA

Mia brought that experience to RVA, where she has been instrumental in supporting our nationwide partnership with Select Medical. With more than 1,900 clinics across 39 states, Select relies on RVA to deliver consistent, high-quality results for brands like NovaCare, Banner, AtlantiCare, Baylor Scott & White, and Physio.

For seven years, Mia has managed fit-out projects. Sometimes she would oversee as many as 60 projects at once. In 2023, she was promoted to project manager, focusing on Select Medical’s clinic renovations. Her ability to handle complex schedules, multiple contractors, landlord negotiations, and TIA collections has made her indispensable to both clients and team members.

A Well-Deserved Honor

Mia’s recognition and receipt of this Select Medical award of excellence are a reflection of her attention to detail, patience, and drive to create outcomes that exceed expectations. At RVA, we’re proud to see her embody the values of collaboration, excellence, and care that define both our firm and our partners at Select Medical.
